Hello everyone! This is my second ever post connected to a blog tour. I'm so excited to take part! Why? Because the book is awesome and the publisher hosting the tour is super cool!
In Search of the Painted Bunting
Author: Beverly Varnado
Genre: Young Adult
With fourteen-year-old Cornelia Taylor’s brother drafted into the army, they don’t even say the word Vietnam at her house.
Then, her best friend Opal Ann Stanley moves away, and Cornelia wonders how she will survive. A spark of hope appears when she comes across a picture of the exotic painted bunting bird. She decides it will help her sadness to see the bird in its habitat on the coastal Georgia shore and wants to cheer her mama by taking her along.
How she will carry out this several hundred-mile trip from their home, she has no idea. An unexpected invitation to compete in a science fair could be her ticket, but one big obstacle stands in the way of her doing so.
To complicate matters further, a new student, Angela, comes to her school, forcing Cornelia to examine her own heart and begin a journey of self-discovery that will change her and her family in ways she never imagined.

My Five Star Review:
In Search of the Painted Bunting is about more than a search. It touches on friendship, the plights of the 1960s, and how the littlest things can have the biggest effects. Also, 14-year-old Cornelia's character and those of the rest of the cast are believable. I wish I could meet some of them in person! I can hardly wait to see what Ms. Varnado writes next!
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publishers. My comments are an independent and honest review.
